Join the Día de los Muertos Procession at Muertos Fest! Whether you are honoring a loved one or witnessing the procession, become part of a tradition that brings the community together in remembrance. The Muertos Fest processions draw thousands of spectators and reach even more through a live broadcast on KSAT-12. Each part of the procession honors a loved one or group of people who have passed, creating meaningful tributes rooted in tradition and cultural expression.
The procession is a meaningful and authentic cultural expression rooted in remembrance, with each entry focused on honoring those who have passed.
Please note: To preserve the spirit and purpose of the procession, entries may not include advertising, promotional messaging, or corporate logos/branding. Entries should not be focused on brands but rather on people.
Thank you to everyone who applied. We look forward to honoring this meaningful tradition together at this year’s Muertos Fest.
We welcome a wide range of participants, including families, community groups, schools, performance troupes, dancers, and artists. All accepted participants MUST commit to walking in both scheduled processions.
Music, creativity, and handcrafted elements are encouraged. Entries may include:
Please note: The procession travels along Hemisfair’s pedestrian walkways, so motorized vehicles and floats are not permitted.
Thank you for your interest in being part of the 2026 Muertos Fest Procession at Hemisfair. Space is limited, so we encourage you to apply early. All applications will be reviewed, and selected participants will be invited to join this year’s procession.
Muertos Fest does not provide volunteers to assist participating groups during the procession. Each group is responsible for having enough participants to carry all displays, props, puppets, altars, and banners for the entire route.
Each group will receive a 6' x 4' custom-printed banner, which will require two people to carry. All other carried elements should be lightweight and manageable for the duration of the procession.
Information provided in your application—including group details and the names of those being honored—will be used for event signage and shared directly with KSAT-12 for the live television broadcast. Please ensure all names and bios are complete and accurate upon submission.
